Losungen

Samstag, 19. Mai 2012
So sollst du nun wissen, dass der HERR, dein Gott, allein Gott ist, der treue Gott, der den Bund und die Barmherzigkeit bis ins tausendste Glied hält denen, die ihn lieben und seine Gebote halten.
5.Mose 7,9
Dass einige nicht treu waren, was liegt daran? Sollte ihre Untreue Gottes Treue aufheben? Das sei ferne!
Römer 3,3-4

About us

We are the "Evangelisch-Freikirchliche Gemeinde Jacobstraße Leipzig" (Brethren)
within the Bund Evangelisch-Freikirchlicher Gemeinden Deutschlands (BEFG) KdöR

Unsere Gemeinde

We are happy that your are interested in our church!

We would like to inform you briefly about our values and motivation:

We are people that believe in Jesus Christ and know ourselves loved and accepted by God. Our faith in Jesus Christ is characterized through a personal relationship to him that is part of our everyday life. As we would like to share this personal experience with everyone, our church activities and events are open for visitors.

We are...

Evangelisch (Evangelic)

Together with all Christian churches we believe that there is good news to the world. Evangelic translates to the Greek word Euangelion and means "Good News". God showed himself to mankind als a God of love through his son Jesus Christ. He offers a new start. Through faith in Jesus and his gospel can we find fullfillment in life that is God's intended purpose.

Our church is standing in the tradition of the protestant churches that started with Martin Luther and the reformation.
Besides that we emphasize two additional points:

  1. Every mature person is personally responsible to God - in life and for eternity.
  2. Without a personal conviction noboday can be a Christian. That means: After knowing about Jesus Christ, you need to come to a personal decision.
Freikirchlich (Freechurch)
To us that means:
  1. Nobody is "born" into a church. Not parents or anyone else decide on who will be a Christian. Everyone can decide freely about accepting Christ and getting baptised.
  2. "Freechurch" means that we are independed from the government. We don't have a church tax,  everything is financed through unsolicited donations from church members and friends. Within this freedom we see a special agility of our church.
  3. "Freechurch" also means the autonomy of the local church in respect to all questions of church life, e.g. how we arrange the elements of our service, what we do with the finances and how we formulate our church regulations.
Gemeinde (Church/Fellowship)
Faith grows not in solitude, but where people come together to praise God and listen to what he has to say. We worship together, meet in different groups, read the bible, siing, pray and help each other in talking and doing. As people that are bound together in faith trough Jesus Christ, we want to live togehter, hear eacht other, be a help to one another and bring to gospel to the people of our city.

Brüdergemeinde... (Brethren)
The brethen movement exists in Germany since about 1850 and is a branch of the great reformation movent that has its roots in the 16th century. Because of the different government-connected an nondenominational groups different Christians of the 19th century had questions about the unity of christian believers. In the search for the for an answer the brethren movement established in Britain, later also in Germany. Goal was not to be just another group or to form a denomination, but to demonstrate the unity of the church in Jesus Christ. This was demonstrated especially in the openess of the Lord's supper, where every Christian was allowed to participate. The members of this group called themselves brothers and sisters, which lead to the name "brethren". They also practiced an open style in their services which aimed at a participation of all. The reason for this understanding is found in Matthew 23, 8ff: "...for you have only one Master and you are all brothers."

... within the Bund Evangelisch-Freikirchlicher Gemeinden (KdöR)
Brethren churches are found in Germany in different forms and withion different, more or less firm unions that connect the different local churches. Part of the brethren chruches belong to the "Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Brüdergemeinden" (workgroup of brethren churches), that has been founded in 1980. This union is not a church by itself but helps all participating churches with the legal orders where necessary. Within the Bund Evangelisch-Freikirchlicher Gemeinden (BEFG) the workgroup holds the status of a public body (Körperschaft des öffentlichen Rechts KdöR). There is a administration headquarter in Leipzig that acts as the partner of the local churches and is responsible for different coordinative tasks. The main characteristics of the AGB lays within the understanding as a workgroup: There are tasks a a local church alone has difficulties to manage. Therefore, the different churches come together to work in unison, according to the bible:  "Carry each other's burdens." (Gal 6,2).
